In collaboration with Indonesian Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Unggul Cipta Teknologi., PT. has developed ‘Smart Fishing YUKOM VMA (Vessel Multi Aid)’, a technology platform that utilizes its own licensed frequency and hardware device that is tailored for small-scale fisheries. Due to the reluctance small-scale fishermen have in AIS (competitors can ‘spy’ other vessels), VMS (too expensive for artisanal fishermen), and GSM (limited coverage) the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology allocated frequencies for our company so that a more suitable monitoring, surveillance and control system for artisanal fishermen in Indonesia can be made. By building our own towers, our coverage is 70 km from our tower to the open sea and our solution has other beneficial features such as electronic chart, weather forecast, instant messaging, eLogbook, SOS and many more to incentivize fishermen in allowing the authority to monitor their fishing activity.
